eTap Solutions, a subsidiary of Electronic Transfer & Advance Processing, Inc., is expanding its services for motorcycle riders in the Philippines. With over 4,000 kiosks nationwide, eTap has observed a significant increase in riders using its machines for various financial transactions, including top-ups, bill payments, and remittances. This expansion comes as the number of motorcycle riders, crucial to the country’s logistics and delivery sector, continues to grow.
Data from Fairwork Philippines indicates over 40,000 Grab Food and Grab Express riders operate in the country. Furthermore, 2024 Land Transportation Office (LTO) data shows approximately 160,000 new motorcycles are registered monthly, suggesting continued growth in the rider workforce.
eTap Solutions President and CEO Carlo Hernandez noted the increasing adoption of digital payments among riders, particularly for daily earnings remittance. “Rider remittance has emerged as one of our machines’ most popular features, serving couriers from leading logistics and food delivery platforms like Shopee Xpress, Grab, and foodpanda,” he said. Hernandez explained that eTap’s machines offer a solution to challenges riders face, such as long queues and limited operating hours at other remittance locations.
Beyond its kiosks, eTap supports riders through a dedicated Facebook group with over 3,500 members. Managed by eTap’s Customer Help Desk and Community Management teams, the group provides a platform for riders to connect, seek assistance, and receive updates on programs, including loyalty campaigns.
eTap has also partnered with over 400 stores, such as DALI, O!Save, Alfamart, AllDay, Generika, and Julie’s Bakeshop, to make financial services more accessible to riders in their communities. “Riders are a growing demographic that payment solutions providers shouldn’t ignore,” said Hernandez. “That’s why we’re committed to developing secure, convenient, and accessible solutions that allow them to operate efficiently.”
