AHG Lab-backed fitness startup GoGym eyes building 100+ gyms nationwide

The expansion plan is part of GoGym's efforts to transform the fitness landscape of the country with its innovative and inclusive approach to bringing health and wellness to all Filipinos.

GoGym, a tech-enabled fitness enterprise backed by Philippine venture builder AHG Lab, aims to build hundreds of gyms in barangays, towns, and other locations across Metro Manila and beyond in the coming years.

The expansion plan is part of GoGym’s efforts to transform the fitness landscape of the country with its innovative and inclusive approach to bringing health and wellness to all Filipinos, according to the announcement.

GoGym, co-founded by two gym industry veterans Andrew Phillips and Emma Anderson, claims to be the only digital and tech-enabled gym network with memberships in the Philippines.

Its app features membership options, personalised fitness plans, training videos, goal setting, and progress tracking. Users can also use the app to pay or pause their membership or refer friends and families for a discount.

The first five GoGym gyms were set up in Pitogo, West Rembo, BGC, McKinley, and Poblacion in Taguig and Makati areas.

Co-founder Phillips said the fitness market in the Philippines presents an opportunity with its large, young, and eager demographic. However, he stressed that there is a noticeable gap in the available tiers of gym options.

“GoGym bridges this gap by offering an aspirational yet affordable fitness brand tailored to the emerging middle class with memberships starting at just P599 per month,” Phillips said.

Aside from the fitness-focused features, the GoGym app will also include diet improvement, mental well-being, stress management, and sleep quality features, Phillips added.

“We want to make sure Filipinos have all tools and applications at their disposal to better their health,” Phillipps said.

The company plans to be a dominant mass-market discount gym brand in the Philippines, said co-founder Anderson.

“Our goal is to build accessible and affordable gyms in every corner of the Philippines, providing not only convenient locations in residential neighbourhoods but also in retail areas, office and business districts,” Anderson added.

GoGym offers a variety of plan options, which include GoTry (P69 per day), GoLive (P599 per month), GoEasy (a subscription model), and GoTrain (a personal training program).
