Coins.ph founder Ron Hose named Entrepreneur of the Decade at Endeavor PH 10th anniversary gala

Hose, who founded Coins.ph in 2014, has been instrumental in driving financial inclusion in the Philippines.

Endeavor Philippines, a non-profit organization focused on scaling high-impact entrepreneurs, recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary with a gala and fundraising event. The event, titled “10 Years of The Multiplier Effect,” recognized the contributions of entrepreneurs, business leaders, and supporters to the organization’s mission.

A highlight of the event was the announcement of Endeavor Philippines’ “Entrepreneur of the Decade” award, which was presented to Ron Hose, Founder of Coins.ph. Hose was recognized for embodying the “Multiplier Effect,” a concept that emphasizes the importance of successful entrepreneurs mentoring and investing in the next generation.

“The Multiplier Effect is what happens when successful entrepreneurs multiply themselves by mentoring, investing in, and sharing their networks with the next generation of entrepreneurs,” said Manny Ayala, Co-founder and Managing Director at Endeavor Philippines. “It’s entrepreneurs like these who pay it forward, multipliers, are what you need to grow entrepreneurial ecosystems, because when there are enough multipliers, you unleash an economic ripple effect.’”

Hose, who founded Coins.ph in 2014, has been instrumental in driving financial inclusion in the Philippines. The online payment company has served over 10 million customers, providing them with accessible financial services. In 2017, Hose was selected as an Endeavor Entrepreneur, and two years later, Coins.ph was acquired by Gojek.

“Over the past 10 years, tech, innovation and entrepreneurship have transformed the Philippines,” said Hose. “For me, what’s even more remarkable is how we were able to achieve this. Everyone who is in this room today is here not only because they have had a big part of this transformation, but because they have chosen to work together to make it happen. It’s the spirit of community that sets us apart.”

Despite his success, Hose remains committed to giving back to the community. He has invested in ten companies, mentored 19 startups, and encouraged nine of his employees to start their own ventures.

“10 years from now, it will be second nature for every entrepreneur to pay it forward,” said Ayala. “By then, the word ‘multiplier’ has replaced ‘unicorn” as the metric of success.”

Endeavor Philippines has been a catalyst for the growth of numerous startups in the country. By providing mentorship, resources, and networking opportunities, the organization has played a significant role in shaping the Philippine entrepreneurial landscape.
