KRISTOPHER S. CATALAN

Kristopher S. Catalan (KSC) is an Assurance Partner at SGV & Co.. He joined the Firm in 2004. Among KSC’s clients are the largest companies in the consumer products, technology, asset management, air transportation, agricultural businesses, industrial goods, construction and real estate industries. He is a member of the Firm’s Capital Markets Center and the Accounting Standards Group (ASG). KSC is highly knowledgeable in Revenue Recognition, Business Combinations and Leases. He is also a frequent resource person in training on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Assurance.
A CPA, KSC graduated from the Holy Angel University with bachelor’s degrees in Accountancy, cum laude, in 2003, and in Business Administration major in Finance and Management Accounting, cum laude, in 2002. He completed the Executive Development Program of the Kellogg School of Management-Northwestern University, USA in 2014.

ANNA MARIA RUBI B. DIAZ

Anna Maria Rubi (Rhia) is an Assurance and Advisory Partner with years of in-depth experience in Assurance and Advisory practice. Currently, she leads Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) engagements related to remediation services, policy reviews, new accounting standards conversion, and other accounting support and accounting advice for local engagements. She is the pioneering manager of FAAS local engagements such as audit remediation, accounting policy reviews and IFRS 15 diagnostics.
She has audited financial statements of banks, financial institutions and other industries in accordance with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards and local statutory requirements of the Philippine central bank, reviewed offering circulars and agreed upon procedures and facilitated trainings related to assurance core skills, accounting standards and financial statement process.
She has handled audit remediation engagements of a group involving various industries such as consumer products, manufacturing, hotel, real estate and agriculture, accounting policy and manuals reviews of a group of entities, review and analysis of accounting impact of accounting conversion, including but not limited to revenue, leases and financial instruments to local and onshore engagements, accounting support on special accounting matters including, business combinations, consolidations, revenue recognition, leases, financial reporting, financial instruments, impairments and other special matters such as those related to restructuring or business projects, and trainings related to accounting conversions and financial reporting processes.
She is a member of the SGV Accounting Standards Group and a subject matter resource for Revenue Recognition.
Rhia graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from Laguna College. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), member of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), and IFRS and US GAAP accredited based on EY requirements.

ALDEN C. LABAGUIS

Alden C. Labaguis (ACL) is a Tax Principal specializing in tax and customs advisory for local and multinational companies in the consumer products and retail, power and utilities, and technology sectors. He is a lawyer focused on helping clients in dealing with controversy involving the Philippine tax and customs authorities. He is proactively engaged in learning and development activities in the Philippines as well as in the EY Asean Leadership Academy. He received an SGV Tax Facilitator Impact Award in FY21 and an SGV Special Award for Client Leadership in FY23.
Alden graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Santo Tomas and obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the Ateneo De Manila University School of Law. He successfully completed the EY Masters in Business Analytics (MBAN) program offered by Hult International Business School, making him the first EY MBAN graduate from Asean and APAC Tax. Globally, he is also the very first EY MBAN graduate to be admitted to partnership.
Alden concurrently serves as Co-Chair of the Young Professionals Committee (YPC) of the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines and Vice Chairperson of the Tax and Financial Services Committee (TFSC) of the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines.

ERICKSON ERROL R. SABILE

Errol is a Partner of the Global Compliance and Reporting (GCR) of SGV & Co., a member practice of Ernst & Young Global.
Errol has extensive experience in the business tax compliance reviews, contract tax services (tax function outsourcing) and tax due diligence review of companies in various industries, such as shared service centers, business process outsourcing, information technology, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, utilities, retail and distribution, trading, power and energy, airline, shipping, semiconductor companies, real estate, freight and logistics, storage and warehousing, hospitals, hotels, recreational clubs and entities registered and enjoying incentives with Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) and Board of Investments (BOI). He received an SGV Learning & Development Excellence Award for Thought Leadership in FY22. He is a resource speaker/facilitator for various trainings/briefings in SGV.

Smith is a Partner within the Strategy and Transactions practice, specializing in Valuation, Modeling, and Economics. He has more than 17 years of experience in financial modelling, valuations, financial due diligence, lead advisory, and strategy work. He has worked with clients involved in different industries such as power & utilities, financial services, consumer products & retail, real estate & hospitality, technology, media & telecommunications, mining & metals, and oil & gas, among others.
He is part of the Firm’s Accounting Standards Group and is a subject matter resource on Fair Value, Impairment, and Purchase Price Allocation. Smith is a member of SGV Asia-Pacific Subject Matter Groups on Fair Value. He is a regular lecturer in external and internal IFRS and valuation trainings.
Smith graduated summa cum laude from the University of Santo Tomas, with a degree in Accountancy. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a CFA charter holder and member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society of the Philippines, a Chartered Valuer and Appraiser (CVA), and a Chartered Financial Modeler (CFM). He is a trustee and treasurer in the CFA Society of the Philippines.
