The Independent Investor is a remote-first digital newsroom. While our coverage is focused primarily on the Philippines, we are a global team comfortable working across time zones.

Experience
We believe there should be more to enterprise journalism than reportage on conglomerate and later-stage enterprises. We aim to be bold and unconventional in our coverage, shining a light on the founders and investors often overlooked by traditional channels. Our mission is to find the most interesting grassroots stories from the Philippine early-stage ecosystem, and to share them with the world.
Ideal Profile
- Driven self-starter comfortable thinking on their feet and asking challenging questions.
- Curious and genuinely excited to learn about new topics, shaping their own source network and areas of expertise.
- Holistic thinker, capable of tackling stories from multiple perspectives.
- Open-minded, with strong local knowledge and a global perspective.
- Three to four years of experience in business writing, journalism, or early-stage investing is a plus, but not required.
Compensation
While our rates scale based on experience and contribution, we offer competitive compensation packages (as compared to other regional publications). As an early-stage newsroom, long-term growth with our collaborative team is assured.
