WeClean, a fully integrated laundry service provider, announced that it has acquired the Makati business of Panda Cleaners, one of the most iconic laundromats in Metro Manila.
Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. WeClean said the acquisition gives it additional industry experience. It also followed WeClean’s buyout of Metropole Laundry & Dry Cleaners and is in line with the laundromat startup’s ultimate plan to operate 500 branches across the country by 2025.
The Panda Cleaners branch that WeClean has acquired is located in Grand Tower, Salcedo, Makati City. The branch is situated in an iconic spot in the bustling business center and has a proven track record of over 20 years.
With the acquisition, WeClean plans to include other revenue lines in the business, including alterations, which used to be done in Panda Cleaners before the pandemic.
Restoring the said services will add value to customers in Makati City, according to WeClean. The move also reinforces the presence of the company in the area.
There will also be a focus on marketing and improving the pick-up and delivery services, with the aim of reducing the time taken to return clean clothes.
“All these measures are client-focused and will improve the service of the laundromat in Makati,” WeClean said.
WeClean, which was established in 2017, provides commercial and industrial laundry equipment for entrepreneurs and corporate clients. It currently operates over 60 branches in NCR, all of them company-operated.
The company said it facilitates commercial and industrial laundry solutions and provides affordable packages from planning, set up, and machine purchase, to installation and support.
Last year, The Independent Investor reported that WeClean raised $900,000 in funding, giving it about $1.2 million in total funding, to fuel expansion plans that founder Alfonso Bigeriego claims will position the company as the largest fully-owned laundromat player in Metro Manila.
WeClean is backed by DayOne Capital Ventures and its affiliate angels. The venture investor focuses on tech-enabled startups at the Seed/Pre-Series A stage.
