Mober launches EV delivery, warehousing services in Cebu

Mober said its "sustainable delivery services" in Cebu will support the regional expansion of the Philippine unit of Swedish home furnishing retail giant IKEA.

Fresh from raising $6 million in funding in June, Philippine-based green logistics startup Mober has announced the official launch of its electric vehicle delivery and warehousing services in Cebu.

Mober said its “sustainable delivery services” in Cebu will support the regional expansion of the Philippine unit of Swedish home furnishing retail giant IKEA.

Mober, launched in July 2015, said it will use its 100% electric vehicle (EV) fleet to support home deliveries of IKEA Philippines in Cebu and other Visayas provinces. The move seeks to ensure that every delivery will be zero-emission.

“As EV ownership gains momentum, Mober is well-positioned to further its commitment to providing sustainable business solutions towards a net-zero carbon emission future by leveraging our all-electric fleet,” said Mober founder and CEO Dennis Ng.

Aside from providing IKEA Philippines with sustainable delivery services, Mober said it will also provide warehousing solutions through a collection hub in Cebu City.

The collection hub serves as the last-mile delivery point for IKEA’s sustainable products and houses Mober’s EV charging station. The facility will be equipped with Mober’s latest 15kw OCCP chargers, which are compatible with type 2 and GB/T standards, per the announcement.

Aside from IKEA Philippines, Mober also partners with SM Appliance Center, Unilever Philippines, Nestle Philippines, Nespresso, Maersk, and Kuehne+Nagel.

The expansion in Cebu comes as Mober announced in June that it has raised $6 million in funding from Clime Capital, the Singapore fund manager focused on low-carbon transition.

The company said it will use the fresh funds to increase its fleet of EVs to 238 from the current 6 and help establish a new 3,000-square-meter charging facility by early 2025.

Early this year, Mober also raised $2 million in seed funding from RT Heptagon Holdings to integrate more EVs into its fleet.

Aside from the recent funding, Mober earlier this year announced the development of its advanced Transport Management System (TMS), which optimizes route planning and delivery schedules for its fleet.

This system enhances resource management and significantly reduces energy consumption and carbon emissions.

“Our vision extends beyond just providing a service, but it’s about pioneering a movement towards sustainability that we hope will inspire other businesses and communities across the country,” said Ng.
