Niber Technologies secures $7M Series A for PFAS-free textile membranes

Niber Technologies plans to use the Series A funding to expand its manufacturing capacity, advance research and development for membrane applications beyond apparel, and broaden its market reach through strategic partnerships.

Deep-tech manufacturer Niber Technologies has completed a US$7 million Series A funding round to expand production of its PFAS-free waterproof and breathable textile membranes. The investment was led by Southeast Asian venture capital firm TNB Aura, with additional participation from existing investors Asian Development Bank (ADB), Faircrest Holding, and Foxmont Capital Partners.

Niber Technologies, founded in 2019, specializes in creating alternatives to traditional textile membranes that often contain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). PFAS are synthetic chemicals used for water and stain resistance in various products, including apparel and medical gowns. However, these substances are facing increasing scrutiny due to environmental persistence and health concerns, leading to accelerating bans in regions like the United States, European Union, and Asia-Pacific.

The company uses a proprietary electrospinning, or nanospinning, technology to produce its PFAS-free membranes. According to Niber Technologies, these membranes offer both high performance and environmental responsibility, designed to be ultra-soft, silent, stretchable, and seamlessly integrate into textiles for applications in performance apparel, healthcare, industrial, and consumer goods.

Richard Beck, PhD, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of Niber Technologies and a former executive at W. L. Gore & Associates, commented on the industry’s shift: “PFAS-free performance materials are no longer a ‘nice to have’ — they’re fast becoming a requirement. At Niber Technologies, we’re combining decades of scientific and commercial expertise to deliver membrane solutions that meet real-world technical demands. With our global outlook and deep materials knowledge, we aim to serve as a trusted partner to manufacturers navigating this critical shift.”

Vicknesh Pillay, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at TNB Aura, stated: “Niber Technologies is solving a pressing challenge for the global materials industry. Their early commercial success, coupled with cost-effective manufacturing capabilities in the Philippines and a product that stands strong against global membrane players, we have high conviction. This marks TNB Aura’s first major investment in the Philippines, and we’re excited to partner with Niber Technologies to scale a solution with true global potential.”

Niber Technologies plans to use the Series A funding to expand its manufacturing capacity, advance research and development for membrane applications beyond apparel, and broaden its market reach through strategic partnerships.

“This funding milestone represents a pivotal moment for Niber Technologies as we scale our operations to meet the surging global demand for sustainable textile alternatives,” said Jae H. Park, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer, Niber Technologies. “Our proprietary nanospinning technology gives us a competitive edge in delivering high-performance, environmentally responsible solutions that the industry desperately needs.”

Niber Technologies’ growth aligns with a broader industry trend toward sustainable manufacturing and compliance with new regulations globally. The company aims to provide manufacturers with alternatives as stricter PFAS regulations are implemented.
