When it comes to high-growth industries few immediately count medical aesthetics as one of them. Yet the medical aesthetics industry continued to grow even at the height of the pandemic, with clients driven by an urge to look and feel good.
It isn’t hard to find proof of how much aesthetics matter to people either. TV, print, and social media are filled with advertisements promising glowing skin, a fitter body, reduced wrinkles, and so much more. There are numbers to prove the medical aesthetic industry’s growth: globally the industry is valued at $16 billion in 2022 and is expected to continue growing at a compound annual growth rate of 18.5% until 2032. In the Philippines, the skincare market alone is expected to be worth $2 billion by 2027.
As the demand for beauty services continues to soar, businesses are in constant pursuit to offer the most innovative and effective treatments available. In the Philippines, aesthetics clinics turn to SpectruMed.
Established in 2004, SpectruMed is the nation’s leading supplier of advanced energy-based aesthetic laser devices. The devices it supplies are used in everything from non-invasive skin tightening to face and body contouring to dental aesthetics.
SpectruMed is certainly reaping the rewards of its hard work and growing demand in medical aesthetics. “We enjoy about 80% returning customers through the years,” said Doron Glazer, chairman of SpectruMed. “On top of that, we’ve always recorded 10-15% annual growth—which is pretty impressive for a 20-year-old company!”
Glazer even reveals that the company grew even during the pandemic, staying profitable and continually hiring people while renovating its Experience Center.
With nearly 20 years of experience as an industry leader, SpectruMed has stayed steadfast in its mission to deliver the latest innovative aesthetic devices to the Philippines. The company has even worked with globally renowned cosmetic surgeon Dr. Stephen Mulholland and was the first to bring technologies like intense pulsed light treatments and cryo-lipolysis to the Philippines.
Today, SpectruMed plans to ride the wave of industry growth to expand its services throughout the Philippines—mainly setting its sights on cities like Davao, Cagayan De Oro, and General Santos.
But how did they get to where they are now in the first place?
Customer First mentality
According to Glazer, the main thing that sets SpectruMed apart from its competition is its commitment to the success of its clients.
Many of the devices SpectruMed supplies its clients aim to make non-invasive skin treatments more effective than ever. For instance, Sofwave is a new technology that reduces the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and cellulite, and can lift the brow, neck, and submental areas in just 45 minutes. Sofwave is also the first device of its kind to earn clearance from the American Food and Drug Administration for skin lifting, tightening, and cellulite reduction. Because SpectruMed is the sole distributor of Sofwave, its clients stand a cut above their competition.

and cellulite in approximately 30-45 minutes.
But the commitment to its clients also means SpectruMed is willing to take a financial loss to confirm the utility of an aesthetic device.
“There will be times when we buy a device, test it for a couple of months, and eventually decide not to push through since the results are not good enough,” explained Glazer. “Or if the device is not technically stable, we also decide against selling it to our customers.”
When this happens SpectruMed takes a financial loss on both purchasing the device and importing it into the Philippines. Yet Glazer emphasizes that SpectruMed would rather lose money than risk disappointing its clients.
But it isn’t just money that SpectruMed dedicates to finding the best technologies. The company also takes time to search and study new trends in its field.
“We stay on the lookout for international trends and check if it’s suitable for Filipino clients,” Glazer said. “Then we do our research to make sure we pick a reliable and evidence-proven supplier/partner.”
A good example here would be when the company realized it needed to add growth factors and exosome products into its portfolio. Exosomes notably change cell behavior to help skin heal and boost healthy collagen growth. SpectruMed then decided to add AnteAGE MD and AnteAGE MDX, a premium American brand with a dearth of clinical research.
“It is true that AnteAGE is an expensive product line, but it works. And we feel that our clients and their patients will appreciate it when they see results,” added Glazer.

The number of satisfied clients raving about SpectruMed’s services suggests its strategy is paying off.
One of its most notable clients is none other than founder, CEO, and medical director of Belo Medical Group Dr. Vicki Belo. “Not only do they bring in the latest technology, but they also back it up with extensive research, marketing, and the best after-sales service,” raved Dr. Belo.
“When it comes to working with a company I always look for three things: knowledge, passion, and dependability,” said The Aivee Group CEO and founder Dr. Z Teo. “SpectruMed has all these attributes and we are very happy to be one of their partners.”

“Another thing is, we don’t just sell devices. We are committed to the success of our clients,” said Glazer. “SpectruMed provides a 360° solution: clinical, service, and marketing support. The fact that 80% of our customers are returning customers shows the level of satisfaction and trust that all leading dermatologists and aesthetic centers have in us.”
Raising the bar in 2023
Still, the SpectruMed team knows success is no reason to become complacent. This mindset is best exemplified in its #LevelUp2023 theme, which reminds the company to stay on top of technological developments and continually work towards expansion.
For example, SpectruMed anticipates non-invasive, energy-based devices to evolve and become even more effective in the near future. With an anticipated rise in non-invasive procedures, SpectruMed expects clients to stay away from procedures like facelifts and body lifts. This also explains the company’s decision to do further research into growth factors and exosome products.
The anticipated demand for more aesthetic procedures is also driving SpectruMed to set up shop outside Metro Manila. SpectruMed has already set up a number of satellite offices and training centers outside the capital region such as in Cebu and Dagupan.
“Since the Philippines is an archipelago, it is hard and time consuming to address provincial client’s concerns immediately. So, we decided to put down our roots and set up satellite offices in other cities aside from Metro Manila so we can provide service support as well as clinical training in no time to clinics in the provinces,” Glazer said. “We have seen the development outside Metro Manila in the last 6-7 years. We believe all patients and doctors deserve the same level of service in their towns.”
Glazer’s wife Cherryl, who also serves as the company’s president & CEO, is head of sales and makes personal rounds to introduce SpectruMed to the country’s top hospital heads and clinic owners.
“From here on, we are on the mission of setting the bar even higher by continually being the first to bring in the newest and most advanced technologies in the country,” concluded Glazer. “We will even continue to take our workshop, clinical training, and events to the next level.”
The overall message is clear. SpectruMed wants people to know quality, reliable aesthetic treatment is more accessible than it’s ever been. Whether it’s a long-established beauty center in Metro Manila or a small clinic in the provinces, SpectruMed is ready to provide the cutting-edge and world-class technology needed to help people look and feel great.
