Kindred Health, a Philippine-based startup that seeks to provide accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare services to women, is looking at opening ten new clinics this year after it raised $5.5 million in total in its pre-Series A funding.
The plan is to open these additional clinics in underserved areas to provide women across the country greater access to high-quality healthcare services, per the announcement.
The first tranche of the pre-Series A funding round was anchored by Singapore-based venture investor Integra Partners and backed by a host of investors, including Kaya Founders, KSR Ventures, Ava Zobel Pessina, Pawikan Capital Group, and Tenco Capital.
Kindred Health raised $2.5 million in the first tranche of its pre-Series A funding round and commitments for a further $3 million in the second tranche upon completion of key milestones, bringing the total funding in this round to $5.5 million.
Aside from setting up additional clinics this year, Kindred Health said it will use the fresh funding to invest in technology to improve its digital platforms. It also plans to launch new services and enhance existing ones.
Kindred Health was launched in 2021 by Filipino nurse and femtech pioneer Jessica De Mesa-Lim and healthcare entrepreneur Abetina Valenzuela as the first hybrid, online-to-offline women’s healthcare solutions provider.
The startup, which combines technology with traditional medical services, aims to address key challenges in women’s healthcare in the country. In 2022, it launched a web-based telehealth service and built a strong social media community.
Kindred offers consultations with specialists from OBGyne to mental health, contraceptives, health screenings, immunizations, IV therapy, nutrition and fitness coaching, and other wellness services. Its client list has grown to more than 20,000 women.
The pre-Series A funding followed Kindred Health’s $1-million Seed funding in July last year, which raised the company’s valuation to $6 million. The round was backed by KSR Ventures, among others.
“We are deeply grateful to our investors for their trust and belief in our mission. This will enable us to scale our services, improve our technology, and increase our capacity to better serve our clients, paving the way for future generations of women in the Philippines,” said Jessica de Mesa-Lim, the company’s co-founder and CEO.
Kindred has partnered with more than 70 doctors across 25 sub-categories and is opening a new clinic in Quezon City this month.
